Nov 30, 2021 · I started a build of a SJ 327 block with an older aftermarket 3.48” SJ crank. I was going to run it in my 57 with ported aluminum speedway motors camel hump heads, modified to take a staggered valve cover, and a heavily worked factory intake. The vortec heads are better in every way unless you have free double bump heads and have to pay for the vortec's. If you flow the early GM heads and flow the vortec heads and compare the numbers. The big difference is in the chamber shape.

I am thinking of getting these machined out to 2.02's and using them on a freshly built 350. I will be running a Holley 650cfm carb and an air gap intake with an additional 2" throttle body spacer.
