Okay it sounds crazy, but I made a lvl 4 rogue thief (sneak attack) + sharpshooter, with 2 levels of barbarian (reckless), and 6 levels of fighter, archery, battle master, and crossbow expert. It’s hella dumb, but you make a reckless attack in melee, and you use your second attack and two bonus actions offhand hand crossbow attack. Dual hand crossbows are really good and typically the best option if you're just going to shoot all day, but there are niches where other options shine. The offhand crossbow not requiring two weapon fighting to scale off your ability score also feels like a bug. If that gets changed in future updates, requiring a fighting style to scale well ... Opt for proficiency in a Hand Crossbow for ranged combat or dual-wield Rapiers for melee combat. Armor: Light Armor such as Leather Armor +1 or Studded Leather Armor for protection. Tips. Gain combat advantage with Eldritch Blast by positioning higher.
