I'm interested in making a Gish character in Pathfinder, primarily for level 5 through level 10, and I would like to get some advice on what classes or prestige classes are good for this. Paizo material only. Magus seems like a clear choice, at 3/4ths BAB and a spell level every 3 levels, plus it gains armored casting and channeling ability.

Spells: Horizon Thunder is a decent alternative to Shocking Grasp. It's more versatile (although spell attack w/o spellstrike is going to hurt) and the damage is less swingy, but you lose the persistent damage against metal wearing enemies (I'm assuming the +1 doesn't matter, since your using the spellstrike role).
