I would surmise that Ruger detected a problem with the one slide spring being too light and then installed two springs on our recalled LCP thus making it harder to pull back. But with a little practice I find it manageable.

Another thought--I think you can unload the pistol, hold the slide completely to the rear while inserting and withdrawing an empty mag. and tell whether or not the side stop spring is functioning.
