I've been trying to beat Hades (no heat) with each weapon, and the Achilles spear was the last one I did. I ended up doing it today with Poseidon on special, dash, and cast. Knockback bonuses and rupture. There are so many builds it's hard to say. General rule of thumb is to go Zeus/Dioynsus for fast attacks, Artemis/Aphrodite/Athena for higher base damage attacks, and Ares doom for something in between. So Zeus might be useful for attack (especially if you get the Flurry Jab hammer) and Ares/Zeus for the special.
