The real question, Ruger American or Savage Axis II. Mossberg is known for their shotguns only, for a reason. My advice, buy a Savage Axis II. It’s as cheap as a Ruger American if not cheaper, has an adjustable trigger and performs equally to the Ruger. Just a heads up though, both stocks are garbage. Very flimsy and don’t absorb any recoil. It pains me to say this, because I'm a huge Savage fan, but I'd choose the Ruger American out of those two. The trigger on the Axis is horrible (the Axis II acc-trigger is much better), the bolt handle feels cheap, the stock is extra flimsy and cheap feeling, etc. The rifles shoot, but they are just very cheap feeling overall. I havnt shot a Savage axis, only a Savage 110, but the opening of the action is much easier on the savage. id get the ruger predator in 6.5 because it has a threaded heavy-ish contour barrel, so you can put a muzzle brake on it and it will overheat less. seems to be the go-to budget long range option right now.
