My bike is a VTX1300RS 2006 model year. I looked at a cross reference chart that says the hiflo filter for me is the HF204. Now, I assume they are the same, but before I drain the ...I think I may check mine (gear oil) every other year (season), but then again, I may be lucky to put on a couple thousand miles a season. The oil drain bolt is the lower of the two. Drain completely, put the drain bolt and washer back and tighten it. Fill final drive with 4 ounces of SAE 80 hypoid gear oil. The only way to either drain or re-fill inverted (VTX 1800) forks is through the large cap at the top. It can get stuck pretty easily so you want to be sure you use a box end wrench or you'll likely round the corners and then really have a problem.
