However, the scanner is only reading engine and trans. It also says MIL off. As the scanner has no ability to turn MIL on, guess I'm in the crapper on this one. Scanner is a U581.

The steering felt mushy and it was running rough. Also, the A/C compressor went off and was blowing just fan air. Not sure if those items are related though.

It means that the car's diagnostic system THINKS that: a. your wheel speed sensors are putting out bad data. b. you have a fault in your SBC hydraulic unit (A7/3) ...plus everytime i get this message, the car handles VERY rough. That surprises me. ESP is nothing to do with suspension, steering, etc. It is all about braking.

I’ve done some research into making sure abs modules from other cars are compatible with mine, what I’ve found is the Mercedes part number (a2095452932) is generally just for model assignment of the vehicle. So according to wis the two parts for my clk500 should be a2095452832 and a2095453132 (supersedes the previous).
