I hope someone can help me with a headspace question on my Enfield 1917 No1 MkIII*. I watched on YT the SMLE video where this was discussed. In that video the guys is using a gauge that he says is .074. His bolt will not close on the .074. I recently bought a no1 mk3* that looks like it was a factory refinished rifle from 1942 (at least from what i can tell). It shoots wonderfully but have been having trouble with the magazine. The magazine does not seem to seat into the rifle properly.The main thing to look at is to ensure that it is a magazine for a No1 Mk3 (SMLE) rifle and not for the No4 rifle. Many dealers have a the habit of calling all lee Enfields SMLE's which can make it difficult when sourcing the correct parts. Look at the differences on the 'spine'.
