Armscor ammo problems.

I was about the send the gun back to Taurus; however, I tried the gun with Critical Defense .357 mag and .38 special Federal and no problems whatsover. Looking at the Armscor ammo with range staff we found that about 60 percent of the rounds did not have the bullet seated properly in the cartridge. Being a bit shorter they cause problems in the G3, a Grand Power K100, Springflied XDM. All of them in 9mm. Nothing. Lacquer is GREAT. It protects the steel case from rust way better than the crappy polymer Wolf is using now, and it increases the lubricity of the case... lacquer is smoother/more slick. The reason the steel cased ammo is "bad" for an AR, is because steel does not expand as well as brass.

There are several angles from which to view this issue. First, as it will save you the most time and money, try switching out the ammunition. If that still does not fix the problem, mechanical failure can be the cause. It can be in the hammer, cylinder, firing pin, or any other component. So, you may take it to a gunsmith to identify the issue.

Looking at the blown casing makes me believe that the brass may be too thin to reliably retain the pressure. Even the firing pin dent on this one was flattened back to flush. I won't be buying any more Armscor Precision ammo based on this experience.
